NOTEBOOKING

Notebooking is the coined term for what one may refer to as educational journaling or scrapbooking. Essentially, the idea is to create a compilation of what has been learned and experienced in any number of subjects or activities and organize it in a notebook (or binder).

Written narrations, copywork, timelines, reports, lists, observations, drawings, maps, and photographs are just some of the items that he may include. The notebook pages he creates for his notebooks will capture the new knowledge he has discovered as well as his own personal reflections of what he has learned. The finished notebook will prove to be a treasure for years to come as the child reviews all that he has learned and admires the elements that he brought to the subjects in making his very own book.

Reading Log

This is not just any reading log.  This is an original way to catalog your reading experience.  It will also take the place of extensive book reports.  Here is an example of how to use this log:

Begin by mapping your reading experiences as described in the study.  From there, you head into a running reading log, centering around main ideas, and then delving into the child's personal reflections on the books that they read.

This reading log works just as well for beginning writers as it does for highschool students.  The fact that it takes the child's personal opinions and interpretations makes this a study to grow with.

You will have an awesome collection of “book reports” and a great memory book for the exciting stories that you have adventures in.

Ananias and Sapphira Notebooking Study

Ananias and Sapphira is an account recorded in the book of Acts, written by Luke.  Peter is the main character in this portion of the Bible, and these people were involved in his ministry.

Alphabet Day Curriculum

Knowing the alphabet is a vital precursor to learning how to read.  Learning the alphabet doesn’t have to be an arduous task. In fact, teaching the alphabet is more effective when you make it fun. Different children find different activities fun, so try different teaching techniques. Here you will find fun activities to focus on with your children.
Choose a different letter for them to work on each week.  Use the recommended activities for each week.  The most important things to remember about teaching your child the alphabet are to keep it fun and keep at it. You don’t have to work at it for long stretches at a time. That will only frustrate a child. Teach the alphabet in little bits at various times throughout each day and you’ll be amazed at your child’s progress.
